About Ravi Inder Singh
I believe every individual experiences at least one life changing incident in his/her life. At the age of 21, I was informed by doctors that I would die in less than six months and possibly become blind in two months. This started a lifelong inquiry into healing and medicine. I found relief and finally recovery with the help of natural healing, ayurveda and vegetarianism. I often observe that at times of illness or transition, people surrender their power to medical doctors. I believe practicing Reiki restores our power back to us.
I was born in New Delhi and raised in the Sikh way of life. The core values of Sikhism include equality for all men and women, hard work, meditation and service before self. I believe religion is just one tool in my life’s toolbox and I am as much Sikh, as I am Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, Sufi and Tao. When I was five years old, my father began to work for various UN related organizations. I was fortunate to travel internationally with him every year and learn through those experiences.
I moved to America at age 20 to pursue my master’s degree and then I helped build three technology companies. Mahatma Gandhi advised: “The best way to find one is to lose yourself in the service of others”. I am grateful for the time spent serving in free kitchens, Reiki clinics, and temple construction. After an earthquake shook India in 2001, I played a role in raising US$25 million towards disaster relief. I returned to India in 2004, and founded MPS Technologies. Our software products included ScholarlyStats which is used by over 200 medical schools. Reiki was present with my work in the corporate world as I created time to send healing to someone in need and Reiki energized me to work harder.
2006 and 2007 were difficult years as my marriage ended. This transition taught me that I am unable to control anything. My life became simpler as I gained clarity on what is truly important. My Reiki first degree was completed in 1994, second degree in 1997 and I was initiated as a Reiki master in 2008 by Fran Brown, who was the 7th Master in America. It was a privilege to learn from Fran. When I lived in her home, she taught me much about Reiki and life. I found her laughter contagious and I fondly remember her saying: “Worry is negative prayer”.
I served on the Reiki Alliance Board of Directors from 2013-2015. I have learned much from the Reiki Alliance masters and consider it a blessing to be part of a global Reiki family. My family and my friends around the world nourish me daily. If you choose to communicate with me, I promise to bring an abundance of love, light, and laughter to our conversation.
